It works, but, then again, it doesn't

Please discuss the EVDO/HSDPA combo kits that we sell. If you would like to make a request such as a new card we support, or different accessories you would like to see in the kits, please make the request here!

It works, but, then again, it doesn't

My combo kit arrived today. I connected it up -- this is a fixed location, not an automobile.
Prior to installation, I checked my speeds at Speedtest.net. After installation, there was no change in Ping or down/up-load speeds. RSSI went from -100dBm to a number in the mid 70's. Signal strength went from 50 to 90+ %. However, there was no measurable difference in performance on the Web.

My antenna was tried in several locations -- the final one being on a metal roof with the wire snaked through a window. No difference.

Before I return the unit, does anyone have any further suggestions?

We can't control speed . Only give the best signal possible . See this thread
http://forum.maximumsignal.net/viewtopic.php?f=32&t=50&sid=530bed5d239f68620ba7079e8547f3f8
Make sure antenna is also perpindiculer to the ground , roof cannot be slanted . And also on a at least an 8 inch by 8 inch metal surface ( not aluminum or stainless steel)

I understand there are multiple factors effecting speed. From my reading, and from conversations on forums like this one, I got the (apparently) mistaken impression that increasing my signal strength would translate into increased download speeds. I'll read the referenced article ASAP, but I seem to have made an error in buying the amp and antenna. My signal is sufficiently strong that I seldom drop the connection.

My problem is that downloads are 0.13Mb/s and that makes routine Internet work somewhat daunting. I recently purchased maps for my TomTom GPS and the file was 1,780MB! It took a day and half to download!

Thanks,
JCF

You did not get that info from us , If you refer to the link I posted , it was made 2 years ago. We always are honest on any forum we post on. You got a gain of about like 25 db, that is great . A signal off 100 is a very bad signal and were lucky you stayed connected. Every 3DB is double the signal so your signal is now about 250 times stronger than it was before. You seem to have tower issues and need to report it to your carrier.
