Motorola Droid adapter

Postby Adam Ball on Thu Feb 04, 2010 9:42 pm

I'm thinking of buying a new amp, and am leaning towards a wired amp as I plan on using my Moto Droid as a modem for a laptop. My question is weather the Droid has a external antenna plug or not. You list an adapter available for the Droid under your antenna adapters, which would lead me to believe that it does. However I have read many conflicting information regarding this on various websites and forums. Some say it can be used for an antenna, some say it's only a diagnostic port. On a Motorola forum, the motorola rep said not to use it for an external antenna.

So I guess what I'm basically asking is whether I can directly hook up my Moto Droid to a wired amp or not. If not, then I guess I'd have to go with the Induction cradle correct?

Thanks

We have been told by Motorola engineers that it is a test port and not intended for use as an RF port , We suggest the use of an induction adapter with The Droid based on our communication with Motorola's design engineers . You Just mount the adapter on the back of the phone directly over the interior antenna and then connect that adapter to the amplifier.

Thanks for the info.

Is this the only induction adapter you carry?

Also, how does that mount? Is there a suction cup, or something similar? I can't seem to tell from the photo. Thanks again.

We also carry the Apple Iphone Induction adapter . It is much smaller and has to be attached to on phone directly over the interior antenna . The Cradle has an adhesive mount for your dash or windshield . It covers more of the back of the phone and nothing is actually attached to the phone so other handsets can actually be used with the cradle as well
